Kama Natural Soap’s story began about 15 years ago.
My relationship with my partner was brand new and with excitement and spontaneity at play we took a quick car trip along the coast down to California. With great anticipation of all the sights, sounds and tastes of what lay ahead, we set out. The trip took, for me, a surprising twist. Instead of seeking out beautiful beaches and the best of wines, I found myself on a serious quest for soap!
Yes, my partner, as I found out then, is a soap junkie! We returned home with enough soap to keep a normal family supplied for a lifetime but for us, it turned out to be enough for a year and a bit. Well into the soap stock, I realized I had not used one of them that I would have wanted to use again and in fact, they were quite disappointing.
I started wondering if I could produce a bar that was superior to any we had found either from afar or near. This didn’t seem too daunting of a task as I had always taken up challenges of making most of my everyday goods such as various skin care products, bread, yogurt, clothing, jewelry etc. It did take much longer then expected to produce a bar exactly as I had envisioned.
I found that all the information in all of the soap books useful but never produced the soap I knew I wanted to produce. After many, many attempts and nearly giving up, I finally hit on the right proportion of ingredients that produced a bar of soap that lathered well, did not melt into the soap dish, added moisture and nutrients to the skin and had an incredible scent thanks to the pure essence of various plants - no man-mades which cannot compare for scent and also for the therapeutic benefits that essential oils offer.
The next step was wondering if I had a product that others would appreciate and I am extremely pleased to say that: they do!
Kama Natural Soap is now a small cottage industry. The soap is made in small batches with the highest quality ingredients and then hand cut and hand wrapped.
